U.S. Tractor Sales Up in October, Combines Down

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturer's monthly "Flash Report," the sale of all tractors in the U.S. in October 2018, were up 6% compared to the same month last year.

For the ten months in 2018, a total of 206,179 tractors were sold which compares to 191,936 sold thru October 2017 representing an 7% increase for the year.

Agri Marketing magazine reports that for the month, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were up 9% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were up 5%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP were up 6%, while 4-wheel drive tractors were even.

For the year, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) are up 10% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP are up 2%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP are up 6%, while 4-wheel drive tractors are up 14%.

Combine sales were down 7% for the month. Sales of combines for the year total 4,020 compared to 3,433 in 2017, a 17% increase.
