Indiana Girl, 6, Rescued from Grain Hopper
USAgNet - 11/19/2018

A 6-year-old girl was rescued from a grain hopper by an Indiana State Trooper and the Albion town marshal near Skinner Lake last week.

According to The Journal Gazette, the Noble County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call about a young girl trapped in a grain hopper in the 2500 block of Indiana 8. When officers arrived, they could see the girl's legs hanging from the bottom of a feeder wagon and unsuccessfully tried to push her back up.

Greg Gorsuch of the Albion Fire Department arrived to help the trooper and town marshal, the statement said. It said they were able to remove the corn from around the girl's face and prevent any more corn from falling back on her by using a large wooden board, while the trooper continued to dig her out.

The three were able to pull the girl out and take her to safety. The girl was treated at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville and released.
