Wisconsin Digging Out From Major April Snow Storm
USAgNet - 04/16/2018

Areas of the Badger State were slammed with a record snowfall over the weekend, which caused dozens of crashed, multiple reports of roof collapses and hundreds of Sunday church services being canceled throughout the state.

The National Weather Service reported that the unprecedented spring blizzard set snowfall records in many areas, with total accumulation ranging from 15 to 30 inches that coincided with wind gusts exceeding 50 miles per hour. The agency's Green Bay office says this surpasses the previous April snow storm record set in 1977 when 11 inches fell in a single storm.

Meanwhile, residents and business owners throughout the state are busy digging out from the storm. Many schools are closed on Monday as crews try to plow the drafted roadways in rural areas. There has also been multiple reports of power lines being knocked down.

The NWS statewide forecast is calling for temperatures in the mid-20s with slight precipitation still expected in areas. More snow could fall in parts of the region on Wednesday.
