UK to Host IPM Training School

The 2019 Integrated Pest Management Field School is March 6 at the Christian County Cooperative Extension office in Hopkinsville.

During the school, specialists with the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, will offer information on IPM strategies for grain and forage production. They will speak on the following topics: weed control programs to maximize herbicide site of action rotation, restoring pasture productivity, planting corn into a cover crop of rye, understanding and managing the soil nitrogen cycle, soybean and corn disease updates, scouting techniques to evaluate insect pest levels, studies to manage the bean leaf beetle and threecornered alfalfa hopper.

Pesticide applicators can receive three general hours and two specific hours in categories 1A, 10 and 12. Certified crop advisers can receive the following continuing education units: one in nutrient management, three in integrated pest management and two in crop management.
