Commission on Women Announces Award Winners
Kentucky Ag Connection - 03/12/2018
The Kentucky Commission on Women put out a call to recognize outstanding female mentors and role models; the call was met with nominations from across the state. Although the winners of the award all serve in different fields, they share two common
characteristics -- the ability to give of themselves and the ability to inspire others to create their own history. The Commission will tell the stories of how these women have worked to help others grow personally and improve their lives.
"Over the years, research has established the positive impact of mentoring relationships," said Cordelia Harbut, Executive Director of the Kentucky Commission on Women. "As Maya Angelou mentored Oprah Winfrey and shared in her triumphs and pain, we
want to recognize these women who step into these powerful and motivating relationships and encourage others to do likewise."
The Commission will recognize these women for their efforts and contributions on a variety of social and public media outlets throughout Women's History month in March. There will also be an event recognizing the award winners in the spring.
