Cathers Named Arts Council Executive Director
Kentucky Ag Connection - 03/19/2019

Longtime Kentucky Arts Council staff member Chris Cathers was recently named executive director of the Kentucky Arts Council by Don Parkinson, secretary of Kentucky's Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet.

Cathers has been the Arts Council's interim executive director since September 2017.

"Chris's performance as interim director has been exemplary, and his support of the arts council's mission and staff has been unwavering," Parkinson said. "We at the cabinet are excited he will continue to lead the arts council forward and build off the positive momentum he has already created."

Prior to being appointed interim executive director, Cathers was the arts council's program branch manager, a position he took in 2007. Among his duties was production of the arts council's annual showcase of Kentucky art and artists, The Kentucky Crafted Market.

"I'm proud of the work we do at the Kentucky Arts Council and the staff members who make it happen, and I'm excited to lead us forward," Cathers said. "I believe in our mission and I'm confident that the staff, board and arts leaders across the state will help carry it out."

As a side note, the 2019 Kentucky Crafted Market will be held March 15-17 at the Kentucky Horse Park's Alltech Arena in Lexington.
