The Finance and Administration Cabinet's Office of Inspector General (OIG) announced that Tiffany Ann Williams of Georgetownwas indicted by a Franklin County Grand Jury on twenty-eight counts of Willful Preparation of False Kentucky Income Tax
The indictment, filed last week, charges Williams with preparing fraudulent tax documents for customers of her business, Quality Tax Service, LLC (QTS), between January 1, 2015 and March 29, 2018. Records filed with the Secretary of State list Williams as
currently operating Quality Tax Service at 996 E. New Circle Rd., in Lexington.
The Kentucky Department of Revenue's Division of Special Investigations recommended the charges to prosecutors based on activity noticed by employees in the Department's Individual Income Tax Compliance Section. Investigators determined that QTS
customers did not own businesses or incur expenses documented by Williams.
The Kentucky Department of Revenue regularly reviews tax refund requests for ID theft and other forms of fraud. Filing a false return is a Class D felony in Kentucky and carries up to five years in prison for each criminal offense.
