KSU Students Bring Home National Research Awards

Kentucky State University students took home six awards at the 41st annual Association of 1890 Research Directors Research Symposium, which was held in Atlanta, Ga.

More than 1,000 participants from the 1890 universities attended the meeting, and 450 student research papers and posters were presented. KSU had 19 graduate and 16 undergraduate students from the College of Agriculture, Food Science, and Sustainable Systems attend.

Six students took home awards in the oral and poster categories:

- Fred Gonzales -- First Place, graduate oral presentation in the Animal Health and Production and Animal Products category.

- Bijesh Mishra -- Third Place, graduate oral presentation in the Family, Youth, Community, and Economic Development category.

- Sathya Govindasamy -- First Place, undergraduate oral presentation in the Plant Health and Production and Plant Products category.

- Trevor Claiborn -- Second Place, undergraduate oral presentation in the Family, Youth, Community, and Economic Development category.

- George J. Pate -- First Place, undergraduate oral presentation in the Animal Health and Production and Animal Products category.

- Amit Yadav -- Third Place, graduate poster presentation in the Animal Health and Production and Animal Products category.
