Kentucky Ag Connection - 01/22/2018

Kentucky State University officials announced that the institution will host the Eta cohort of the Higher Education Leadership Foundation (H.E.L.F.) in June.

The Leadership Institute is scheduled from Thursday, June 7 through Sunday, June 10.

"H.E.L.F. is for individuals seeking to advance his or her ability to lead with significant change while expanding their knowledge of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)," Kentucky State University President M. Christopher Brown II said. "This hands-on program with preeminent presidents and thought-leaders will motivate fellows to lead with vision and confidence as they develop the skills necessary to create a culture of continuous innovation."

The H.E.L.F. mission is to prepare principled, highly skilled, transformational leaders in higher education with an interest in assuming positions of leadership at the nation's HBCUs.

According to Wiley College President Herman J. Felton Jr., H.E.L.F. fellows have invaluable access to and engagement with sitting and former HBCU presidents, senior HBCU administrators, HBCU thought leaders, corporate leaders and executive recruiters.

The Leadership Institute offers a professional development experience that provides an opportunity to assess personal vocation and leadership skill, reaffirm a commitment to HBCUs and identify and enhance the qualities for a successful career as an effective leader and senior administrator.
