13-Foot MegaViewer to Showcase Tourism at State Fair
Kentucky Ag Connection - 08/21/2017

The Kentucky Department of Tourism (KDT) held a ribbon cutting to showcase a massive 13-foot tall, 1,000 pound MegaViewer, that visitors can experience at this year's Kentucky State Fair, taking place through Aug. 27.

The MegaViewer is located in the Pride of the Counties area inside in the exposition center, South Wing A. This viewer is a replica of the popular viewfinder toy with iconic Kentucky images inside. With a flick of a lever, visitors can go through a variety of Kentucky's must-see visitor destinations. Ambassadors from the Kentucky Department of Tourism will be on hand promoting travel and tourism in the state, as well as to give visitors Kentucky travel information. Visitors can also celebrate 225 years of Kentucky statehood by stopping by the "225 Selfie Stop" at the KDT booth.

The MegaViewer is featuring the theme "No Weekend Plans? Try Some of Ours!" Highlights include images of iconic Kentucky moments such as horses, outdoor adventures, culinary experiences, the nine tourism regions of Kentucky and iconic museums, attractions and much more to help plan a weekend getaway!

"The MegaViewer is a fun way to promote the memorable moments that can be made in Kentucky," Commissioner of The Kentucky Department of Tourism, Kristen Branscum said. "We wanted an interactive and eye-catching way to talk about Kentucky as a travel destination and the MegaViewer fits the bill."

This year, the MegaViewer was placed in New York City's Times Square, Atlanta's Piedmont Park, Navy Pier in Chicago and The Jazz and Rib Festival in Columbus, OH. After the Kentucky State Fair, it will head to LouFest in St. Louis. These activations are strategically chosen in areas that are media and traveler targets for Kentucky.

The Kentucky Department of Tourism continues to build upon Kentucky's signature tourism industries of horses, bourbon, music, arts, outdoors and culinary to reach new audiences and present Kentucky as a top-level destination for visitors internationally and domestically.
