UK Women's Forum Announces Conference

The University of Kentucky Women's Forum has announced its annual conference, "Elevate," will be held Oct. 16 at the Gatton Student Center and feature Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie, Olympic medalist and assistant coach for UK Women's Track and Field. The conference will begin with breakfast at 8 a.m. and end with door prizes and an optional Koru session at 3:45 p.m.

The Women's Forum Annual Conference is open to all UK faculty and staff and is a valuable opportunity for women to build their professional and personal skill sets. The conference also serves to better inform the UK community about the Women's Forum mission, goals and general membership.

The conference, geared toward learning from successful UK women, explores various facets of women's professional and personal lives while celebrating successes within the university. The conference will feature sessions including professional branding, work-life wellness, communicating mindfully, living intentionally and appreciation in the workplace.

Individuals may register for the conference by completing the registration form at https://ukytickets.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=1515&p=1. Registration will be limited to the first 200 registrants. Registration will close Oct. 9.

Conference registration is $25 and includes breakfast, lunch and all conference materials. UK staff and faculty will login with their linkblue ID to be able to register for a reduced rate of $15. General members of the Women's Forum will find a special discount code sent to their email. Conference attendees are encouraged to ask for financial support from their respective departments.

The UK Women's Forum Board is also pleased to announce conference scholarship opportunities for current UK staff and faculty, which will allow recipients to attend Elevate 2019 free of charge. The conference scholarship is one way the UK Women's Forum is holding true to its mission of empowering women. Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. (EDT) Oct. 2, 2019. The UK Women's Forum was created in 1991 and is an organization for all faculty and staff members of the university. Its mission is to exert a leadership role in empowering, validating, informing, including and celebrating all women employed through the University of Kentucky by addressing the challenges, communicating issues and recognizing successes within the context of the workplace.
