Committee Hearing on Need for Technology During COVID
Kentucky Ag Connection - 07/14/2020

On July 15, at 2 p.m., Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, chairman of the House Budget Committee, will convene a virtual hearing examining how the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the failings of antiquated information technology (IT) systems and accelerated the already obvious need for federal investments to update and modernize technology solutions. The Committee will hear from expert witnesses and discuss the federal government's responsibility to invest in new, modern technology to help citizens better access services, allow agencies to complete their missions, help state and local governments administer federally financed programs, and reduce the total cost to taxpayers.

The House Budget Majority staff published a report in advance of the hearing.

Livestream will be available on the Committee website at and Twitter.

The witness panel will include:

- Teresa Gerton, president and CEO, National Academy of Public Administration

- Jennifer Pahlka, founder orCode for America and co-founder of U.S. Digital Response

- Rebecca Dixon, executive director, National Employment Law Project

- Robert Wah, MD, physician leader in healthcare and technology
