ECTC Recognizes Manufacturing Month

October is Manufacturing Month and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) is the primary provider of manufacturing training in the region. Each of ECTC's advanced manufacturing programs are eligible for free tuition through the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program (WRKS).

These programs include:

  • Computerized Machining and Manufacturing
  • Welding Technology
  • Engineering and Electronics Technology
  • Electrical Technology
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design
  • Air Conditioning Technology
  • Industrial Maintenance Technology

The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship (WRKS) provides up to 60 credit hours of tuition for those who qualify. Over 125 credentials at ECTC are available in high-demand programs in manufacturing and other industries including health care, business and information technology, construction/skilled trades and transportation/logistics.

"We're proud to align our programs with advanced manufacturers across the region to provide the essential training needed to move our region forward," said ECTC Dean of Workforce Solutions and Technical Programs Mike Hazzard. "With scholarship opportunities like the WRKS and the Metallica Scholars Initiative, our students are uniquely positioned to graduate debt free and walk out of college and into a good paying career with the skills they need."

ECTC is the only college in Kentucky and one of only 23 colleges nationwide that received funding from Metallica's All Within My Hands (AWMH) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) for the Metallica Scholars Initiative, designed to directly support students and elevate the importance of career and technical education.

ECTC Computer Aided Drafting and Design student Brandon Life said these opportunities are helping him work toward a career in 3D modeling in small applications without the worry of the cost of college.

"I tried to be proactive in my transition from high school by applying for scholarships. This semester, in addition to WRKS, I'm using the Metallica scholarship and a local scholarship from my church, College Heights," said Life. "Paying for classes is a weight I don't have to worry about carrying on my back so I can focus on my classwork."
