Holstein Leaders Win Breeder Award

Holstein Leaders Win Breeder Award

By Jamie Martin

Holstein Association USA has selected Jeff and Kate Hendrickson of Jeffrey-Way Holsteins as the 2026 Elite Breeder award recipients. Their work highlights decades of commitment to developing productive and long-lasting dairy cows.

“It gives us a sense of pride to be recognized by this award,” said Jeff. “It’s a good feeling to know you’re recognized by your peers, and it provides a sense of accomplishment.

Their dairy operation began as a youth project and has grown into a well-established family farm. Today, they farm with their son Brooks, while their other children continue contributing to the dairy sector.

A key strength of their herd comes from a foundation cow, Inwood Taffy Apollo EX-93, purchased in the early 1980s. This cow family remains central to their breeding program, with nearly 90% of their herd tracing back to this line. The influence of this family extends beyond their farm through global genetics and embryo sales.

The Hendricksons have developed many well-known cows, including Mars Tara-ET EX-90, Mascot Tina-ET EX-91, Format Tate-ET EX-93, Tranquil-ET EX-92, Tanawood EX-95, Addison Sauna EX-95, Saphire EX-94, and Hard Rock Twigs EX-96.

Their herd has been part of the Progressive Breeder’s Registry for 35 years, reflecting consistent high performance. They have received several Progressive Genetics Herd Awards and have bred many top-quality animals, including Gold Medal Dams and Dams of Merit, along with 384 Excellent cows.

In addition to breeding success, the farm has received numerous awards in dairy shows, including Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor honors.

The Hendricksons also contribute to their community by welcoming farm visitors and supporting local initiatives and youth programs. Their commitment to excellence and family values continues to strengthen their legacy in the Holstein industry.
