Kentucky agriculture receives boost with $203,512 grant

Kentucky agricultural community received a welcome boost with the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board's (KADB) approval of $203,512 in grants for diversification and rural development projects across the state. 

"These grants reflect the KADB's commitment to supporting progress and safety for Kentucky's farm families," said Commissioner of Agriculture and board chair Dr. Ryan Quarles. "The projects funded will make a significant difference in the lives and livelihoods of our farmers." 

Funding Breakdown: 

County and State Funded Projects: 

  • Boyle County Farm Bureau: $5,500 for grain bin rescue equipment. For more information, contact Terry Gilbert at terry.gilbert@kyfb.com.  
  • Kentucky Agricultural Council: $70,000 to develop a 2025-2030 Road Map for Kentucky Agriculture and support the Kentucky Agriculture Summit. For more information, contact Jennifer Elwell at jennifer@teachkyag.org.  

County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP): 

  • Provides cost-share assistance for farm improvement and diversification. 
  • Covers various enterprises like cattle, infrastructure, horticulture, poultry, and more. 
  • Two projects approved: Boone County ($108,077) and Carter County ($17,047). 

Shared-Use Equipment Program: 

  • Supports community organizations in purchasing farm equipment for producer use. 
  • LaRue County received $2,888 for this program. 

All CAIP application periods and deadlines will be advertised locally.
