Kentucky State University (KSU) is highlighting its agricultural research, education, and outreach programs at the 2026 Kentucky State Fair, giving visitors a chance to learn about the university’s contributions to agriculture across the Commonwealth.
The fair is being held from August 20-30 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, with KSU’s Land Grant Program exhibit located in AgLand, South Wing A.
The exhibit features a variety of interactive displays and educational resources designed for visitors of all ages. Topics include horticulture, forestry, aquaculture, food production, agricultural safety, and other areas that support Kentucky farmers and communities.
A major attraction is KSU’s nationally recognized pawpaw research program. The university has studied North America’s largest native tree fruit for more than 30 years and serves as the home of the USDA National Clonal Germplasm Repository for pawpaw.
Visitors can learn how this research has supported the development of products such as Pawpaw Ale-8, a seasonal beverage created through a partnership between KSU and Ale-8-One.
Additional exhibits feature forestry equipment, live plants, fish, and a chicken tractor. The popular model milking cow has also returned, giving fairgoers an opportunity to experience milking while learning more about dairy production.
Throughout the fair, KSU faculty and staff are available to answer questions and share information about research programs and Cooperative Extension services.
The university’s involvement extends beyond its exhibit, with faculty participating in demonstrations, livestock events, youth activities, and educational programs across the fairgrounds.
University officials say the fair provides an excellent opportunity to connect directly with farmers, families, students, and community members while showcasing the impact of Kentucky State University’s agricultural programs and research initiatives.
