Four Hills Farm in Versailles, Kentucky, will host an OAK Field Day on October 26, 2026, offering participants an opportunity to learn about sheep production, agricultural marketing and farmland conservation.
Farmers Jim Mansfield and Lynn Pruett have raised Katahdin hair sheep in central Kentucky for many years. Their operation once supported a supply chain that provided lamb to a national grocery retailer for 16 years.
During the field day, they will share lessons from their experience, including how they adapted their farm and business practices as market conditions changed.
Participants will explore pasture-based sheep management, livestock care, and strategies for developing cooperative supply chains among multiple farms. The event will also examine efforts to maintain productive farmland through sustainable improvements and conservation easements.
The program will include demonstrations of the farm's current land, livestock, and infrastructure management practices. Registration is required, with fees of $5 for OAK members and $10 for nonmembers.
