Ninth District state Representative Myron Dossett, R-Pembroke, has been appointed as the new chair of the House Agriculture Committee, as announced by the Kentucky House Majority Caucus. As chair, Dossett will oversee the review of legislation and initiatives that affect farming practices, agribusiness, rural development, and food production. He will work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural organizations, and government agencies, to address key issues such as sustainability, land use, and market access.

Dossett, a native of Christian County, one of Kentucky's top producers of corn, soybeans, wheat, and tobacco, brings a deep understanding of farming and its significance to the state's economy. “I’m incredibly honored to lead this committee and appreciate the opportunity to working on policies that support our farmers, strengthen rural development, and build on our agricultural heritage,” said Dossett.

In addition to his new role, Dossett has a strong background in state policy. He previously co-chaired the Kentucky General Assembly’s Tobacco Settlement Oversight Committee, which manages the state’s portion of the multi-billion-dollar Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement.

Dossett has represented the Ninth District since 2007 and is set to lead the committee through Kentucky’s upcoming legislative session, which begins on January 7. The General Assembly will meet for 30 legislative days, with the session concluding on March 30.
