Tornado Relief Loans for Kentucky Ag Producers

Tornado Relief Loans for Kentucky Ag Producers

By Blake Jackson

Farmers and ranchers in Kentucky impacted by the tornado that struck on May 30, 2025, may be eligible for financial support through the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA).

The Physical Loss Loan program is available to help agricultural producers repair or replace property vital to their operations that was damaged or destroyed during the disaster.

Eligible losses may include essential farm buildings, equipment, fixtures, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut-bearing trees, as well as harvested or stored crops and hay.

The loan assistance applies to producers in Washington County, which has been designated as the primary disaster area. Additionally, farmers in contiguous counties - Anderson, Boyle, Marion, Mercer, and Nelson are also eligible to apply.

The deadline to submit loan applications for this assistance is March 9, 2026.

To explore available loan or disaster relief options, producers are encouraged to use the Disaster Assistance Discovery Tool, the Disaster Assistance-at-a-Glance fact sheet, and the Loan Assistance Tool on farmers.gov.

For further guidance or to file a Notice of Loss, contact your local USDA Service Center. These resources can help determine the best path forward for recovery and rebuilding.
