Youth across Kentucky will have a opportunity to explore the state’s rich agricultural industry during All in for Ag Education Week, scheduled for March 16-20. This initiative is designed to broaden access to agricultural education and aligns with National Ag Week, which celebrates the critical contributions of farmers and farm families nationwide.
The program is a collaborative effort involving the office of Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman, the Kentucky Department of Education, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and numerous educational and agricultural organizations throughout the state.
Its goal is to provide elementary school students with engaging learning experiences that build agricultural knowledge, foster appreciation for farming, and introduce students to potential careers in agriculture.
Educators will have access to hands-on lesson plans, contests, and opportunities for community involvement. Teen leaders from Kentucky 4-H and FFA, working together as the Corduroy and Clover Crew, will host workshops in classrooms this spring, covering topics such as chicks, livestock, and seeds.
Kentucky students can also gain real-world agricultural experience through The Real Ag Experience, which connects teachers with local farms and agribusinesses for field trips.
Coordinated by the University of Kentucky Extension Service, the program currently offers over 300 farm and agribusiness tour locations across the state, supported by Kentucky’s agricultural community.
For students unable to attend a farm visit, the Bring Ag to the Classroom program brings experienced farmers and agricultural professionals directly into schools as guest speakers.
Community volunteers and Kentucky Farm Bureau members will also participate by reading agriculture-themed stories, and county 4-H programs will integrate All in for Ag resources into agriculture days and local events.
