The Kentucky FFA Foundation has announced a new commitment from Pitman Creek Wholesale to support leadership development and agricultural education opportunities for FFA members throughout Kentucky.
The company has pledged $25,000 to help students build skills, expand experiences, and make meaningful contributions within their communities and future careers.
The donation will help fund the Kentucky State FFA Convention, one of the organization’s premier events, and provide support for SAE launch grants. These grants offer financial assistance to students looking to start or grow entrepreneurial agricultural projects.
In addition, the funding will support the creation of videos featuring Kentucky’s State Star winners in Production, Agribusiness, and Placement, recognizing outstanding FFA members each year.
Based in Stanford, Kentucky, Pitman Creek Wholesale is the largest freshwater tackle distributor in the United States, serving retailers nationwide and internationally.
The company is owned by James S. Coffey, a longtime supporter of Kentucky agriculture and youth development. Coffey and his family also operate Branch View Angus, a multi-generational Angus seedstock farm known for hosting major cattle sales.
“We want to give kids the opportunity to get to do things they may not otherwise get to do,” said Coffey when he and LuAnn established their Forever Blue fund. “We want to give them the chance to have broader experiences.”
“Pitman Creek is a business that has been very intentionally built in a way that honors its community and rural roots,” said Sheldon McKinney, executive director of the Kentucky FFA Foundation.
“We are so pleased to partner with an organization that puts into action so many of the principles that we try to instill in our FFA members. We look forward to passing along his support to our members,” McKinney added.
