The University of Kentucky recognized Todd County agent Curt Judy with the 2024 UK Grain Crops Science Service Award. This award, spanning four decades of service, honors Judy's contributions to Kentucky's agricultural community.
Previously focused on wheat, the award now acknowledges broader achievements in grain crops research and education. Judy, a UK alumnus with 44 years of experience, has been instrumental in promoting high-quality grains and research.
His collaborations with university researchers, like Professor Emeritus Lloyd Murdock, on projects involving tillage, soil fertility, and compaction have significantly improved agricultural practices. Judy also contributed to soybean cyst nematode education and various research trials.
"Curt's collaborative spirit and dedication to education are invaluable," said Professor Murdock, highlighting Judy's assistance with research and educational events.
Beyond research, Judy's development of a software program in 1999 streamlined the compliance process for the Kentucky Agricultural Water Quality Plan, impacting over 30,000 farm plans. He further served the community by educating farmers about genetically modified organisms and farm trucking regulations.
Professor Murdock emphasizes Judy's exceptional qualities, stating, "He prioritizes his clients and their needs, earning him the respect of both his clientele and colleagues across the state."
This award recognizes not only Judy's individual achievements but also his dedication to advancing Kentucky's agricultural landscape through research, education, and innovative solutions.
