Derby festival offers new events for 150th run

Excitement is building for the 150th Kentucky Derby, with a packed schedule of events leading up to the big race on May 4th.  The Kentucky Derby Festival offers something for everyone, with new additions alongside returning favorites.

Kick-off the celebrations at Churchill Downs with the Gallopalooza Collection Preview and Unveiling, showcasing over 150 artistic horse statues. This free event runs March 22nd to 24th and includes entry to the Kentucky Derby Traveling exhibit.

Fashionistas won't want to miss the Kentucky Derby Museum Hat Show on March 24th. Enjoy brunch bites, cocktails, and a runway show featuring the latest hat and jewelry trends from the museum's featured milliners.

Sports fans can cheer on Louisville City FC as they take on Indy Eleven on April 6th. Limited-edition Derby Festival co-branded scarves and warm-up tops are available for this game. College football fans can catch the Louisville Spring Football Game on April 19th.

Families can take a break from the hustle and bustle at the Children's Tea with the Derby Festival Princesses on April 21st. This event features a "Tea in the Candy Kingdom" theme.

For a sophisticated Derby Day experience, the Hats, Bowties and Bourbon Derby Day Party offers an elegant way to celebrate. This event benefits the Louisville Kappa League, a youth mentorship program.

The popular Kroger's Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront is also returning with new attractions, details to be revealed soon.
