Farmers Invited to University of Kentucky Wheat Field Day

By Blake Jackson

Wheat producers, crop consultants, and agribusiness professionals are encouraged to attend the University of Kentucky Wheat Field Day on May 12 at the UK Research and Education Center (UKREC) in Princeton.

The event will provide valuable insights to help participants prepare for the 2026-27 growing season.

Experts from the UK Wheat Science Group will present the latest findings and practical recommendations on key topics such as wheat breeding advancements, crop protection methods, yield improvement strategies, and variety performance. These sessions are designed to address current production challenges and evolving market conditions.

“Making profitable decisions on wheat is as critical now as it ever has been for farmers,” said Chad Lee, Extension grain crops specialist with the UK Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

“The field day addresses some of those key decisions and allows farmers, crop consultants, county agents and specialists to discuss these important topics.”

The program will begin at 9 a.m. CDT at 300 Extension Farm Road in Princeton. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network and engage with specialists and peers throughout the morning.

A complimentary lunch, sponsored by the Kentucky Small Grain Growers Association, will conclude the event at noon.

While registration is free, participants are encouraged to sign up by April 30 to ensure a meal. The event also offers educational credits for Certified Crop Advisers and pesticide applicators.
