The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board has allocated $2,195,289 to support agricultural diversification and rural development projects across the state during its latest board meeting.
"Diversity is what keeps Kentucky agriculture strong and relevant for our producers," said Commissioner of Agriculture and Kentucky Agricultural Development Board Chair Jonathan Shell. "The projects funded this month by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board will help sustain that diversity, fostering stronger communities and a more prosperous future."
State and County Funded Projects
- Hopkinsville Elevator Company, Inc. has been granted up to $300,000 in multi-county funds to enhance rail accessibility by renewing and expanding its infrastructure. Those seeking more details can contact Ben Westerfield at ben@hop-elevator.com.
- Sugarloaf Mountain Meats and Processing received $3,750 in state funds to cover consultation fees for PAX Food Safety Consulting, including HACCP certification and training. Contact Tim Leuenberger at tim@sugarloafmtnmeats.com for further information.

County Programs
County Agricultural Incentives Program (CAIP)
CAIP provides cost-share assistance to Kentucky farmers, helping them enhance and diversify their farm operations.
Covering various agricultural sectors-including beef and dairy cattle, equine, poultry, swine, and value-added production-CAIP aims to improve farm infrastructure, water management, and energy efficiency.
Ten counties received CAIP funding, totaling $1,724,595:

- Lawrence ($150,000)
- Letcher ($49,287)
- Madison ($280,000)
- Montgomery ($80,000)
- Ohio ($135,000)
- Owen ($20,000)

Deceased Farm Animal Removal (DAR)
Madison County was awarded $10,000 under DAR, which supports environmentally responsible livestock disposal.
Shared-Use Equipment Program
This initiative helps community organizations acquire farm equipment for lease to local producers. Barren and Madison counties received a total of $50,694:

Youth Agricultural Incentives Program (YAIP)
YAIP fosters youth engagement in agriculture. Bath and Owen counties were awarded a total of $50,000:
