The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board has recently approved an impressive $4.3 million in funding for a range of agricultural diversification and rural development projects across the state. These grants, awarded at the board's monthly meeting, aim to bolster the achievements of Kentucky's vibrant agriculture community and foster increased farming capabilities throughout the commonwealth.
Among the notable county and state-funded projects, Anderson County Farm Service, Inc. has received up to $169,300 for the modernization of their feed manufacturing plant, while Loretto Grain, LLC has been granted up to $1 million to aid in the construction of a grain elevator.
Additionally, the University of Kentucky Research Foundation has secured up to $158,010 to support ongoing research on hay production in the equine industry.
Various state programs have received funding. The On-Farm Energy Efficiency Incentives Program, designed to enhance energy efficiency in agricultural operations, has been granted a total of $45,986 across six counties. The County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP), which supports agricultural producers in improving and diversifying their farm operations, has been allocated $2,117,644 across 15 counties.
Other programs approved by the board include the Deceased Farm Animal Removal (DAR) program, which facilitates the environmentally-sound disposal of deceased livestock, and the Shared-Use Equipment Program, which assists community organizations in purchasing farm equipment for producer use. The Youth Agricultural Incentives Program (YAIP) has also been awarded funding to encourage youth participation in agriculture.
These investments by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board exemplify the commitment to fostering agricultural innovation, sustainability, and rural development across the state.
