Kentucky Farm Bureau sets key policy priorities for 2025

By Blake Jackson

At its 105th Annual Meeting, the Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) approved its state and national policy priorities for the 2025 legislative session. These priorities aim to strengthen agriculture, improve rural infrastructure, and address key challenges facing farmers.

State Priorities: KFB’s state-level priorities include updating tax credits to promote farmland preservation and revising tax codes to support farmers. Additional goals focus on:

Enhancing forestry and wildlife legislation. Improving rural road infrastructure. Overseeing solar energy infrastructure. Opposing eminent domain-related regulatory authority. These measures aim to balance agricultural development with environmental sustainability and rural community needs.

National Priorities: On a national scale, KFB supports maintaining existing farm policies while expanding select programs. Key priorities include:

Reforming immigration and farm labour programs, including H-2A restructuring. Improving transportation infrastructure for better supply chain efficiency. Conducting regulatory reviews and modifying health care laws. Encouraging domestic fuel production and federal tax code reforms. Strengthening national protections against wildlife predators impacting farms. These efforts reflect KFB’s commitment to advancing policies that benefit farmers and rural communities across the United States.

KFB continues to advocate for practical solutions to the challenges farmers face, emphasizing the importance of agriculture in driving economic growth and community well-being. These priorities demonstrate KFB’s leadership in shaping policies that support sustainable and profitable farming practices.
