Kentucky State University Enhances Disaster Response with New Recovery Unit

Kentucky State University's Community and Resource Development Team has acquired a state-of-the-art disaster recovery unit, a versatile trailer designed to support disaster preparedness education and relief efforts throughout Kentucky. With a rise in natural disasters, including tornadoes and flooding, the acquisition of this unit is a proactive response to the growing need for disaster support in the region.

The disaster recovery unit, led by Cameron Sellers, a dedicated disaster educator, aims to provide hope and inspiration to those affected by disasters. It will be equipped with essential supplies and resources to swiftly respond to emergencies in collaboration with state entities, non-profit organizations, and faith-based groups. The trailer's purpose extends beyond immediate relief, as Kentucky State's Community and Resource Development team plans to engage with school systems, utilizing the unit to educate and raise awareness about disaster preparedness.

Kentucky State University has established the Kentucky Disaster Preparedness Program, a collective of volunteers who will collaborate with the university on educational initiatives and coordinated response efforts. The newly acquired recovery unit will serve as an educational learning lab, empowering communities and supporting families impacted by disasters.

By investing in disaster response infrastructure, Kentucky State University is taking a proactive stance in building resilience and providing essential assistance during times of crisis. The disaster recovery unit will play a vital role in enhancing disaster preparedness, response, and relief efforts across the state, fostering a more resilient and well-informed community.
