KSU Ag Roundup Draws 3,400 Participants in 2025

By Blake Jackson

Kentucky State University (KSU) hosted the second day of its Third Annual Ag Roundup on Friday, September 5, 2025, drawing nearly 3,400 participants.

Attendees included middle and high school students, KSU scholars, faculty, staff, alumni, producers, and community members from across Kentucky, all coming together to celebrate the university’s land-grant mission and contributions to agriculture.

The day began with an agriculture symposium in Exum Gym, where guests learned about KSU’s programs, research, and career opportunities in agriculture, health, and natural resources. A highlight of the morning was a keynote address by Warren Beeler, Kentucky’s Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture.

Speaking to over 1,000 students and educators, Beeler emphasized the impact of agriculture in the Commonwealth and encouraged the next generation to embrace innovation while honoring Kentucky’s farming heritage.

After the symposium, the campus transformed into a festival-style experience stretching from the Student Center to Blazer Library. Visitors explored a wide range of hands-on activities, including:

  • Live animal exhibits featuring goats and chickens, connecting attendees with KSU’s teaching herds and flocks.
  • Drone demonstrations showcasing modern agricultural technology for precision management.
  • Aquaculture displays highlighting KSU’s leadership in aquatic agriculture research.
  • Mobile Health Units providing nutrition education and community wellness resources.
  • Mobile Disaster Response exhibits demonstrating emergency preparedness and response.
  • Free food, games, and fair-style activities supported by partners, funders, and vendors.

Looking ahead, Day Three on Saturday, September 6, will feature the KSU Showcase from 10 a.m. to noon, where visitors can meet agriculture professionals, explore academic programs, and take guided campus tours.

A tailgate cookout will follow from noon to 2 p.m., leading into free student admission for the KSU football game at Alumni Stadium, where the Thorobreds face Albany State at 2 p.m.

Ag Roundup highlights KSU’s dedication to collaboration, education, and innovation in agriculture. By connecting students, professionals, and the community, the event celebrates the university’s land-grant legacy and demonstrates the vital role of agriculture in Kentucky’s future.
