Horse farm owners and managers are invited to attend an equine field day hosted by the University of Kentucky’s Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Cooperative Extension Service.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon EDT on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Texata Farm, located at 4665 Troy Pike in Versailles, Kentucky. Admission is free, and a complimentary breakfast will be served.
The field day will focus on cost-share opportunities available to equine operations and will include practical demonstrations and educational talks.
Attendees will learn about conservation practices in action on a working farm, with on-site cost-share applications available. Additional sessions will cover topics such as establishing novel tall fescue and designing heavy use areas, with real-life examples available for viewing.
Krista Lea, agricultural extension specialist in equine forages in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, emphasized that the event is especially valuable for small and mid-sized horse farm owners seeking guidance on sustainable management and funding options.
Those interested in attending can reserve a spot through Eventbrite at https://CostShare.eventbrite.com. For more information, contact Krista Lea at krista.lea1@uky.edu.
