Spring 2026 Internship Open for Kentucky Equine Program

Spring 2026 Internship Open for Kentucky Equine Program

By Blake Jackson

Applications are now open for the Spring 2026 internship offered by the Kentucky Equine Management Internship (KEMI) program. The session runs from January 5 to May 24, 2026, and prospective interns must submit their applications between August 1 and October 31 of the year prior to the internship session.

Spring interns will gain hands-on experience on central Kentucky farms, working closely with broodmares. Their responsibilities include assisting with foalings, caring for newborn foals, accompanying mares to breeding sheds, and performing routine horse care such as feeding, grooming, and stall maintenance.

This practical experience allows interns to develop essential skills in equine management while contributing to the day-to-day operations of busy breeding farms.

In addition to farm work, interns participate in weekly lectures covering a range of topics relevant to the equine industry and Thoroughbred racing. These sessions are led by experienced equine professionals and offer valuable networking opportunities.

Interns can use these experiences to refine their career goals, gain industry insights, and build professional relationships that may benefit their future careers in the equine world.

Interested candidates can access the application form online. For questions or more information about the Spring 2026 KEMI internship, applicants may email info@kemi.org or call 859-277-2512.
