Kentucky Farm Bureau Debuts ‘Let’s Get Rural’ Show

By Blake Jackson

Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) has officially launched its newly rebranded podcast, “Let’s Get Rural.” Co-hosted by KFB’s Renee Carrico and Matt Hilton, the show offers listeners a lively platform for conversations with farmers, agricultural leaders, and rural communities across Kentucky.

“Let’s Get Rural” continues the storytelling tradition established by KFB Studios, now under a refreshed name and identity.

Each episode is designed to connect audiences with the heartbeat of Kentucky agriculture, covering everything from planting and calving season updates to philanthropic recaps and live recordings at agricultural education events.

“Farmers’ stories deserve to be told in ways that are both authentic and engaging,” said Carrico, who raises beef cattle and hay in Washington County and also serves as KFB’s Commodity Division Director. “Through ‘Let’s Get Rural,’ Matt and I are excited to showcase the passion, resilience and innovation that define Kentucky agriculture.”

Carrico brings her perspective as a lifelong farmer and leader in KFB’s environmental and policy efforts. Hilton, who manages KFB Studios, draws on his extensive background producing and interviewing for Emmy Award-winning shows like “Bluegrass & Backroads” and “The KFB Show.” Together, the pair balance “the Aggie” and “the City Slicker” viewpoints to create a mix of humor, curiosity, and genuine insight.

“With Renee’s deep roots in agriculture and my curiosity as an ‘adopted aggie,’ we want to bring listeners conversations that are both educational and entertaining,” Hilton said. “We hope people will tune in to hear not only about the challenges farmers face but also how much they love their work, and the incredible ways they serve their communities.”

The podcast reflects the rising popularity of audio storytelling among rural audiences. “As we find ourselves in the truck hauling grain, in the tractor putting out hay, or as the unlucky night shift driver on a family vacation to Florida, many people have moved from a music playlist to audio books and podcasts,” Carrico said. “As they get to know us, we encourage our listeners to think about sharing their own stories.”

New episodes of “Let’s Get Rural” are now available on major podcast platforms and through the KFB website at kyfb.com.
