KENTUCKY WEATHER

Spring Planting Accelerating Across Daviess County

Spring Planting Accelerating Across Daviess County

This April weather has been fantastic for local farmers.

Well over half of the corn and soybeans that will be planted in Daviess County are already in the ground, three weeks ahead of last year.

The Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service maintains a number of corn and soybean variety demonstration plots. Yields are measured in the fall to assist farmers in selecting seed for the next growing season.

Clint Hardy, Extension Agent for Agriculture, estimates the wheat harvest is four to six weeks away. Meanwhile, the Burley tobacco acreage continues to decline in Daviess County.
