USDA Disaster Loans Open for Kentucky Farmers After Storm

USDA Disaster Loans Open for Kentucky Farmers After Storm

By Blake Jackson

A Presidential disaster declaration has made emergency financial assistance available to Kentucky farmers impacted by a severe winter storm that struck between January 22 and January 27, 2026.

Through this designation, the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is offering emergency loans to help producers recover from storm-related losses.

These loans are designed to support a range of recovery efforts, including replacing essential equipment or livestock, reorganizing farm operations, and refinancing certain existing debts.

Loan applications will be evaluated based on the level of damage, available collateral, and the applicant’s ability to repay.

The declaration, identified as M4898, includes multiple amendments that expand eligibility to additional counties. Initially, several Kentucky counties were listed, with more added under subsequent amendments.

Contiguous counties such as Allen, Clinton, Cumberland, Monroe, Simpson, Logan, Todd, Calloway, Christian, Graves, and Trigg are all eligible for assistance under different deadlines.

Application deadlines vary, with final dates extending through November 9, 2026. Farmers are encouraged to contact their local USDA Service Center to file a Notice of Loss or learn more about available support programs.
