Kentucky 4-H Youth Development, part of the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment’s Cooperative Extension Service, will host the 2026 Kentucky Volunteer Forum from Feb. 26-28 at the Central Bank Convention Center and Hyatt Regency in Lexington.
Held every two years, the event carries the theme “Be the Difference: Motivate. Educate. Celebrate.” and draws attendees from across Kentucky as well as participants from 20 additional states.
The forum is designed to inspire, train, and recognize 4-H volunteers, Extension professionals, and community partners who support youth programs throughout the Commonwealth.
This year’s forum will offer more than 225 workshops across 25 learning tracks. The schedule includes professional development sessions, seminars on wheels, networking opportunities, and a trade show featuring 60 vendors.
Two special recognition events will celebrate outstanding volunteers and youth who have made significant contributions to the 4-H mission.
“We are excited to offer this unique opportunity to help educate, inspire, and recognize the amazing service of our Kentucky 4-H and extension volunteers,” said Ken Culp, III, principal specialist for volunteerism, evaluation and curriculum for 4-H Youth Development.
“We’ve found that the quality and breadth of the workshops, informal networking, and sharing opportunities are some of the biggest factors motivating people to attend.”
Volunteers can also earn accreditation in nine core areas, including agriculture, animal sciences, camping, communications, expressive arts, leadership, natural resources, science, health, wellbeing, and technology. Those completing accreditation receive lesson plans and instructional resources to support 4-H programming for the next two years.
Seventy-six volunteers and community partners will be recognized at the Hall of Fame banquet, including the late George Heersche, Jr., who entered the National 4-H Hall of Fame in 2024. Kentucky 4-H will also honor 176 youth who have completed ten years of membership during the Saturday Recognition Brunch.
Major sponsors include The R.C. Durr Foundation, the Kentucky 4-H Foundation, Martin-Gatton CAFE, and UK Cooperative Extension.
