Apply now - Kentucky Ag athlete scholarship

Calling all Kentucky high school seniors who excel in both athletics and agriculture! The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) and Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) are offering a unique scholarship opportunity the 2025 Kentucky Ag Athlete of the Year program.

“Discipline, teamwork, patience, and goal setting are attributes athletes use every time they step on the field or the court. These are the same skills you use for success when stepping into the field of agriculture,” Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell said. “We are pleased to join our partners at the KHSAA to once again honor these attributes and reward the Commonwealth’s best young athletes and agriculturists.”

Eligibility:

  • Involved in Kentucky agriculture
  • Participated in KHSAA sports during 2024-2025 school year
  • Graduating high school senior
  • Accepted to a college, university, or trade school

Benefits:

  • Six scholarships awarded in total
  • Two Outstanding Kentucky Ag Athletes (one male, one female) receive $2,000 each
  • Four Kentucky Ag Athletes (two male, two female) receive $1,000 each
  • Winners announced at the 2025 UK HealthCare Boys' Sweet Sixteen

Application Details:

  • Apply online by December 31st
  • No agriculture major required, but preference given to Kentucky colleges (except for specialized agricultural degrees)
  • Scholarships funded by KDA's "Ag Tag" program (voluntary donations from Kentucky motorists)
