The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) is reminding producers that Physical Loss Loans are available to help recover from recent natural disasters.
These loans can assist farmers in repairing or replacing essential property damaged or destroyed during severe weather events, including losses to livestock.
Eligible property may include vital farm structures, fixtures tied to real estate, equipment, perennial crops, fruit and nut trees, harvested or stored crops, and hay.
One disaster declaration currently triggering eligibility covers parts of Kentucky impacted by tornadoes, high winds, and flooding between April 2 and April 6, 2025. Producers in the affected areas have until April 20, 2026, to apply for assistance.
Along with the primary counties, producers in contiguous areas may also qualify. Eligible counties include Ballard, Crittenden, Livingston, McCracken, and Union.
Farmers seeking assistance can explore resources on farmers.gov, including the Disaster Assistance Discovery Tool, Disaster Assistance-at-a-Glance fact sheet, and the Loan Assistance Tool, which help determine program eligibility and loan options.
Producers must file a Notice of Loss and are encouraged to contact their local USDA Service Center for details, guidance, and to begin the application process.
