Broadband Coming to Rural West Kentucky Communities

Broadband Coming to Rural West Kentucky Communities

Gibson Connect actively connecting customers as part of the Gibson Electric Membership Corporation Project ACCORD, an initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide in communities that are critically underserved with broadband internet access. This project has been made possible through the generous support of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and a $4.7 million grant from the Kentucky Broadband Deployment Fund. More than 600 customers are now subscribing to our service with more being added daily.

Dan Rodamaker, President and CEO of Gibson EMC and Gibson Connect said, “I am thankful for the support from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the dedication and hard work of our employees and contractors as we conquer the challenges of meeting the need for fast, reliable and affordable internet services, he said.”

Upon completion of Project ACCORD, rural areas of Fulton and Hickman counties will have access to high-speed broadband, effectively eliminating the digital divide in these areas. Locations in Carlisle County, along and west of Highway 51, and a small number of locations in western Graves County will also have access to Gibson Connect’s fiber network. The network and services provided mark a significant milestone in enabling economic growth and empowering residents and businesses to participate in the modern gig-based economy.

The ACCORD project is set to provide access for 1,704 homes and 270 businesses.
