Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed confidence in the future of agricultural technology (ag tech) in the state, despite recent leadership changes at sustainable food company AppHarvest. The company, known for its massive greenhouses, recently announced a shift in management, with Tony Martin becoming the new CEO.
Beshear, during a campaign stop in Shelbyville, highlighted the significance of ag tech in addressing the growing need for food production while protecting natural resources. AppHarvest founder Jonathan Webb will continue as chief strategy officer, ensuring a bright future for the company in Kentucky.
The governor's public campaign events have resumed as he seeks re-election. He reiterated his commitment to economic development and supporting public education while taking jabs at past political controversies. Beshear will also be speaking at the annual Fancy Farm Picnic in West Kentucky, alongside his opponent, Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
With a focus on moving the state forward for all citizens, Beshear pledged another robust field operation in his bid for a second term. As the campaign unfolds, he aims to engage with the public and address the critical issues facing Kentucky's future.
