Madeline Brown, a junior environmental health science student from Versailles, was recently awarded the Judy Inman True Scholarship from the Kentucky Environmental Health Association (KYEHA) during its annual conference. One student in the state is selected annually based on outstanding achievement in the field of public health.
Brown said she plans to use the $2,000 scholarship toward graduate school expenses.
"I am so honored to have received the Judy Inman True scholarship," she said. "I chose to pursue a degree in EHS because I love the environment and am interested in protecting both the environment and the health of the public."
The scholarship was named in honor of True, a former long-time secretary to the organization to commemorate her dedication, who passed away in 1998.
"Madeline is an excellent student and has been an asset to our program," EHS professor Jamie Hisel said. "She is bright, articulate, has an incredible work ethic and a positive attitude. Her passion for the field of EHS and her desire to help others truly sets her apart. We are all proud of her accomplishments and know she will do great things in the field."
The KYEHA is the largest environmental health organization in Kentucky for regulators, industry professionals, educators and consumers with nearly 400 members.
