Kentucky Grants for Pet Spay Neuter Programs

Kentucky Grants for Pet Spay Neuter Programs

By Blake Jackson

The Kentucky Animal Control Advisory Board (KACAB) is offering grant funding to support the spaying and neutering of dogs and cats across Kentucky. County and metropolitan governments are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $1,266 per applicant.

This funding aims to promote responsible pet care and reduce stray animal populations. Interested governments must apply by July 15, and all applications must be submitted by email. Faxed or mailed applications will not be accepted. Complete details and the application form are available at kyspayneuter.com under the “Resources” tab.

Governments may partner with non-profit organizations to deliver these services more efficiently. Applicants are encouraged to research and submit the lowest possible cost for each alteration. Grant amounts will be influenced by the average cost per procedure.

KACAB urges local communities to support this program by purchasing spay/neuter license plates, as the revenue from these sales funds the grant initiative.

The Animal Control Advisory Board was created by the Kentucky General Assembly in 1998. The board works closely with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and is responsible for evaluating grant applications, recommending animal control measures, setting shelter standards, and organizing training programs.

By supporting this grant, Kentucky continues its commitment to animal welfare and community health. Local governments can make a real difference in pet population control with proper planning and partnerships.

For further assistance, applicants can contact michael.grant@ky.gov. This is a valuable opportunity for counties to improve pet care and strengthen local animal services.
