Kentucky proud - farm to fork seeks hosts

By Blake Jackson

Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell invites you to be part of the 2024 Farm to Fork program. This initiative shines a spotlight on local agriculture, raises awareness about the state's food movement, and supports worthwhile causes.

Showcasing Local Bounty, Plate to Plate:

The Farm to Fork program partners with organizations across Kentucky to host dinners featuring exclusively local, Kentucky Proud® products. This not only promotes fresh, farm-raised goodness but also raises funds for local charities. Funding comes from a grant by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund, with reimbursements available for approved event costs.

Success Stories from the Field:

Leslie Lester of Windy Hill Meats, who co-hosted Wayne County's first Farm to Fork dinner, describes the impact: "Over 200 people enjoyed farm-fresh Kentucky Proud delights, sparking conversations about our food's origins and the dedication of local farmers. The event buzzed for weeks!"

Lauren Mink, a Clark County Farm Bureau agent, echoes the program's value: "Farm to Fork brings local bounty directly to our community, highlighting our farmers' hard work. Hundreds discover new products, and the program's proceeds benefit our Farmers' Market, even supporting its permanent structure!"

In 2023, 32 Farm to Fork dinners across the state raised over $174,000 for local charities
