The 122nd Kentucky State Fair will celebrate both the Commonwealth’s agricultural heritage and America’s 250th anniversary this year.
The fair theme, “Where County Traditions Meet Our Country’s Celebration,” reflects the connection between Kentucky’s rural traditions and the nation’s history.
Agriculture has played an important role in America since its founding. Many of the nation’s early leaders were farmers, and the determination, innovation, and respect for the land that helped them succeed remain visible in Kentucky’s farming communities today.
The Kentucky State Fair provides an annual opportunity for residents from rural and urban communities to come together and recognize the importance of agriculture. From food and clothing to other everyday products, agriculture touches the lives of every Kentuckian.
The fairgrounds are also undergoing major improvements. Renovations supported by a $200 million appropriation from the Kentucky General Assembly are expected to be completed next year.
Additional construction progress will be visible to visitors this year, with the project expected to become one of Kentucky’s largest economic investments.
Despite the physical changes, the fair’s agricultural traditions will remain central to the experience. AgLand, located in the South Wing, features more than an acre of agricultural exhibits showcasing Kentucky’s farming history and the future of agriculture and agribusiness.
Interactive displays will provide younger visitors with opportunities to explore agriculture, while Kentucky 4-H and FFA will also be represented.
Livestock competitions will feature some of the state’s top youth exhibitors, while commodity organizations will serve Kentucky-grown and Kentucky-raised foods at the Great Kentucky Cookout Tent. Agricultural exhibits in the West Hall will further highlight the accomplishments of the state’s producers.
The fair will also continue its commitment to inclusion through the Sunshine Class, now entering its fifth year. The program gives youth with special needs an opportunity to participate in livestock showing and experience the agricultural industry firsthand.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture will assist throughout the event, supporting livestock shows, agricultural exhibits, producers, and exhibitors.
The Kentucky State Fair will run from August 20-30, 2026, offering visitors an opportunity to celebrate Kentucky agriculture, American history, and the state’s farming traditions.
