KSU Hosts 27th Annual Small Farmers Conference

By Blake Jackson

The 27th Annual Small Farmers Conference is set to take place from November 18-20, 2025, at Kentucky State University’s Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm in Frankfort, Kentucky.

This annual event serves as a vital platform for small-scale farmers to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and collaborate on sustainable agricultural practices that strengthen local communities.

The 2025 conference theme, “Strengthening Local Food Systems for Small Farmers,” underscores the crucial role that small producers play in fostering resilient, community-based food networks.

Through workshops, discussions, and networking opportunities, participants will explore innovative strategies to enhance food security, market access, and sustainability in local farming operations.

The event is sponsored by the Kentucky State University Land Grant Program, in collaboration with the University of Kentucky, Alcorn State University Policy Research Center, Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE), and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Attendees are asked to travel directly to the Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm on the first and third days. For the second day, shuttle service will run between the Capital Plaza Hotel and the conference venue.

Registration options are available for general attendees, students, and donors, allowing participants to engage fully while supporting Kentucky’s small farming community.
