This year’s North American International Livestock Exposition reached a milestone, setting attendance and participation records. Nearly 27,000 livestock entries from 48 states, Canada, and visitors from countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, and France contributed to an exceptional year of competition. Over the course of two weeks, judges awarded 705 purple and gold banners on the event’s iconic green shavings.
“Walking away from the North American International Livestock Exposition with a purple and gold felt banner is a moment exhibitors work all year for and few capture,” said David S. Beck, President & CEO of Kentucky Venues.
“With the continued support of our sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and partners, the show saw a new scale of competition, headlining entertainment, and elevated food, all playing a part in the enduring success of this year’s event.”
The North American Championship Rodeo, presented by Rural 1st, also set records, drawing its largest-ever crowd on Thursday and selling out Saturday’s performance. The rodeo featured 104 talented competitors, including two representing Kentucky.
Beyond the arena, attendees browsed more than 100 retail vendors offering western apparel, souvenirs, children’s items, and other goods. The Hitching Post venue highlighted Kentucky cuisine and live performances by well-known artists such as Chancey Williams, Alex Miller, Kentucky Headhunters, and Soul Circus.
A highlight of the exposition included the induction of William H. “Bill” Rishel of North Platte, Nebraska, into the esteemed Saddle & Sirloin Portrait Gallery. Rishel, now the 380th inductee, was honored for his profound contributions to Angus genetics and leadership in the beef sector.
This year also introduced smart, multilingual vending machines that improved food accessibility and highlighted Kentucky-made products.
