Lancaster native and country singer-songwriter Alex Miller is set to become the newest brand ambassador for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Kentucky Proud program, representing products grown and produced right here in the Bluegrass State.
“Alex is just as Kentucky as it gets,” said Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell. “Because he comes from an agricultural background, he is the perfect spokesperson for Kentucky Proud products. Like Kentucky Proud products, he represents the authenticity of this state. It couldn’t be a better match.”
Kentucky Proud, the state’s official agricultural marketing brand for over 20 years, aims to promote Kentucky’s farmers, farm families, and the wide range of products grown, raised, or processed by Kentuckians.
Miller’s new role will help expand this mission, connecting consumers with Kentucky producers through his music career and public appearances, sharing the rich agricultural heritage of the Commonwealth.
“I come from a long line of Kentucky farmers, and I can tell you that the work is hard but incredibly rewarding. I am honored to join other Kentucky ag producers as a part of Kentucky Proud. This chance to serve as an ambassador will allow me to highlight the accomplishments and amazing products spotlighted by this great program," Miller said.
"I love Kentucky and I will always do all I can to share the wonders of the Commonwealth. As an American FFA degree recipient, this was an easy opportunity to say ‘yes’ to, and I’m eager to get started.”
Miller’s musical journey began with local performances at jamborees and nursing homes before gaining recognition through the Garrard County High School FFA talent show. His talent carried him all the way to the National FFA Convention, where he performed before thousands.
In 2021, Miller appeared on the popular television show American Idol, boosting his career and earning him opportunities to open for renowned artists like Hank Williams, Jr., Lee Brice, Josh Turner, Shenandoah, and Brooks and Dunn. Miller has also performed at iconic venues such as the Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry.
Miller credits his grandfather, a farmer, for inspiring his dedication to music and performance. With upcoming tour dates in North Carolina, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky, Miller recently released his latest single, “The Byrd,” featuring country star Tracy Byrd, under Billy Jam Records.
