Corn and Soybean Planting Begins in Kentucky


Corn and soybean planting is underway in Kentucky.

In USDA’s first weekly crop progress and condition report of the season, the agency says 2% of corn is planted, up one percentage point from this time last year and 1% of soybeans are planted. 36% of tobacco transplants have also been seeded.

Kentucky’s winter wheat crop is rated 70% good to excellent. There are reports of freeze damage in some areas; 20% moderate, 48% light and 32% with no damage.
