500 Students to Attend WKU Progressive Safety Day

The 31st annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Days program will bring approximately 500 fourth-grade students from Warren County to Western Kentucky University’s L.D. Brown Agricultural Exposition Center on September 24, 2026, for a day focused on health and safety education.

Designed as an interactive field trip, the program teaches children practical safety skills they can use in everyday situations. Throughout the event, students will participate in hands-on learning sessions covering a variety of topics, including sun safety, hearing protection, helmet use, first aid, animal safety, fire prevention, CPR, and the dangers of vaping.

Activities will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., giving students opportunities to learn through engaging demonstrations and interactive experiences. During lunch, participants will attend a special presentation on electrical safety, sponsored and presented by Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation.

The event is organized by the South-Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in partnership with the Kentucky Partnership for Farm Family Health and Safety, Inc.

The Progressive Agriculture Safety Days program is recognized as the largest rural safety and health education initiative for children in North America, providing communities with resources to deliver age-appropriate and hands-on safety training.

More than 100 volunteers, including representatives from community organizations, as well as WKU students and faculty members, will assist with educational activities and event operations.
