Brown Forman boosts sustainable farming goals

Brown Forman boosts sustainable farming goals

By Jamie Martin

Brown-Forman Corporation has achieved its first sustainable agriculture milestone, successfully engaging 100% of its direct farmers in regenerative agricultural practices ahead of its 2025 target. This achievement highlights the company's dedication to sustainability and its agricultural supply chain.

Regenerative practices improve soil health, support ecosystems, and promote rural community prosperity while ensuring farmer profitability. “From the grain to the barrel, whiskey is an agricultural product that takes time and patience.

Taking care of the land is vital to the success of our industry. We are making investments today that may not come to fruition until 70 years from now,” shared Elizabeth McCall, Woodford Reserve Master Distiller.

The company emphasizes the environmental and social benefits of these practices, which contribute to thriving ecosystems and resilient supply chains.

Andy Battjes, Director of Global Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability, said, "This milestone underscores our steadfast commitment to the natural systems we rely on and our dedication to collaborating with our agricultural partners.”

Beyond agriculture, Brown-Forman focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, safeguarding watersheds, promoting sustainable forestry, and ensuring recyclable or reusable packaging. The company is also developing new sustainability goals to advance its mission of environmental stewardship.

This milestone marks the beginning of ongoing efforts to secure a sustainable future while maintaining high-quality production and protecting natural resources.
