ASA elects new leadership for 2025

ASA elects new leadership for 2025

By Blake Jackson

During its annual election meeting in St. Louis, the American Soybean Association (ASA) Board of Directors elected its executive committee for the coming year. These leaders will guide the organization’s efforts on key advocacy issues such as the farm bill, regulatory matters, tax policy, biofuels, and market development, supporting U.S. soybean farmers nationwide.

Caleb Ragland of Kentucky was elected as the 2025 ASA president. A member of the board since 2017, Ragland farms 4,000 acres of soybeans, corn, and winter wheat in Magnolia, Kentucky. Former ASA president Josh Gackle of North Dakota transitions to the role of chairman, while past chairman Daryl Cates of Illinois rotates off the nine-member executive committee.

Scott Metzger of Ohio was elected as vice president, placing him in line to serve as ASA president in 2026. Other elected officers include Dave Walton of Iowa as secretary and Alan Meadows of Tennessee as treasurer. At-large members include Heather Feuerstein (MI), Tanner Johnson (WI), Jimmie Lee Shaw (SC), and Jordan Scott (SD).

The ASA also welcomed five new directors for nine-year terms: Teresa Brandenburg (KS), Julie Maw (CAN), Geoff Ruth (NE), Bob Worth (MN), and Bryan Severs (IL). Departing directors were recognized for their contributions, including Charles Atkinson (KS), Ken Boswell (NE), and others from across the U.S. and Canada.

The newly elected leadership will focus on advancing the ASA’s mission to advocate for policies that benefit soybean farmers and ensure the sustainability and growth of the industry.
